Liyuan scholar Colloquium forty-five
Lecture Title: On Some MHD Free Boundary Problems
Speaker:Prof. Tao Luo (City University of Hong Kong)
Lecture time:October 27, 2023 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Lecture location:Classroom No. 3, 1/F, Hui Xing Building, Yuehai Campus, Shenzhen University, China
Overview:
In this talk, I will introduce the background of MHD free boundary problems, and discuss main geometric and analytic ideas in obtaining a priori estimates. Then I will discuss the role played by the Taylor sign condition, from both ill-posedness and well-posedness points of view. This talk is based on joint work with Professor Chengchun Hao.
Speaker Introduction:Prof. Tao Luo received his PhD degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1995. He went to the University of Michigan and Georgetown University as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor. He is currently a professor at the City University of Hong Kong. Prof. Tao Luo's research interests include nonlinear partial differential equations, mathematical theory of fluid dynamics, and hyperbolic systems of conservation law equations. His research results have been published in important international journals such as Comm. Pure & Applied Math., Archives for Rational Mech. & Anal., Comm. Math. Physics, Advances in Math. etc. He has won many academic awards in China and abroad. He has won many academic awards both in China and abroad, including the Presidential Scholarship Special Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Rackhan Research Fellowship of the University of Michigan, the CNR Research Fellowship of Italy, and the CNRS Research Fellowship of France.
